Empirical Research
To be honest, for a while there my head was really frustrated, so I had to stop and do something else. It was hard to make sure I was doing the right assignment, because although I left class pretty confident that I knew exactly what to do, when it was go time I was stuck for a while. Maybe it was because it's been so hot these couple of days, that by simply looking outside, I start sweating. Anyhow, I went back to finishing my Empirical Research assignments and hoped for the best. What I did to help me was go over what was said about, introduction, methods and results, and lastly discussion and conclusion. We will see when I get my grade back how I did. What I learned about one article in particular, was the importance of the parents involvement in the student's success. I think many times, some parents, including myself put our involvement in our children's school to the side a little. It's important we participate and become an active member in our children's school. I know(first hand I have a 1year old) it's hard to become involved at times, but I know we can all squeeze in some time to volunteer in class, or maybe when there is after school activity they have. Making time is important, and our kids, well mostly the teachers and staff will appreciate it. What I'm looking for as well, are the outcomes that the dual immersion programs have. What I found was that students that are in the dual immersion program test really high. That's impressive to me. In North Carolina, where this information was from, they were hoping to bring this program to more schools in the district. This information is opening the doors for further research on different schools, comparing the dual immersion school testing scores, with those schools that don't have this program, but are also doing well. I want to compare the scores, where is the higher scoring , and what areas. Most importantly, what makes this program successful.
